I see life very much as a voyage, a journey of self-discovery that takes us to many places and to meet many people. My life has been like this and I have enjoyed the variety of experiences that I have had and the wonderful people that I have met along the way. Each has propelled me on to a new place and to a new me.
Currently, I am living in Southern Maryland, bordered by the Potomac and Patuxent Rivers and the Chesapeake Bay. We are surrounded by water. I live here with my husband, my son, and our German Shepherd, Sierra. I love the water so this is an ideal spot to go kayaking, swimming, and just sit and watch the waves go by. In addition, I am a musician. I play a number of instruments and have most recently taken up the lever harp. This beautiful instrument provides countless hours of distraction from the hectic world, and a doorway I pass through often to beautiful music and new friends.
I hold a Bachelors of Science degree in Recreation and Parks from West Virginia University. After several years working with children and adults in the recreation field, I felt drawn to touch the lives of people in a more significant way. So as the newly single mother of a 2 year old, I returned to school and earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from Delaware State University. My coaching education is from MentorCoach an accredited program through the International Coaching Federation.
For 21 years, I have worked with children, youth and adults whose lives have been touched by mental illness, trauma, abuse and neglect. Through this work, I have seen individuals make great strides in healing their wounds and moving toward the lives they want to live, and I have stood behind them as they have set out on their paths into the world.
As rewarding as my career in social work has been, it has led me further on my own voyage of self-discovery to where I found Coaching. In this process, I have found who I was all along, a coach joining with individuals to discover and express their true selves and to set their own paths in the world.
